Join Our Interprofessional Education Program!

Are you a health profession student eager to gain hands-on experience and collaborate across disciplines?

Our IPE program offers you a unique opportunity to participate in interprofessional healthcare activities, fostering collaboration and improving patient care

Why Scholars?

  • Be a part of a federally recognized program. 

  • Opportunity to engage with communities in 35 counties across South Texas.

  • Learn about different populations living within South Texas.

  • Network and train interprofessional with various health profession students.

  • Gain knowledge of working with underserved and rural populations.

  • Learn about community resources that can improve patient care. 

  • Become a leader in helping address health inequities. 

What's Involved?

  • Commitment to completing 1 or 2 years of the program (depending on discipline) 

  • 40 hours of didactics (online and in-person opportunities) each year of the program.

  • ​40 hours of experimental learning (community-based activities, clinical rotations) each year of the program

  • Completion of program MUST be concurrent with student's graduation from health profession program.

Who Can Participate?

  • Students currently enrolled in a health profession program

    • Examples of eligible programs: Nursing(All), Medicine, Dental, PT, OT, PA, SLP, Social work, Pharmacy, Mental Health, CHWs, ETC.​

      • Undergraduate pre-health professions are ineligible​

  • Students underrepresented in healthcare are STRONGLY encouraged to apply.

  • Students willing to take on extra-curricular activities in addition to their academic commitments.
