LRGV AHEC takes pride in empowering future health leaders by providing comprehensive trainings, community engagement, and innovative healthcare solutions.
Our AHEC Scholars is an interprofessional education (IPE) program for health professions students interested in gaining additional knowledge and experience working with rural and underserved populations.
We recognize the important contributions of CHWs in reaching vulnerable, low-income and underserved members, and strive to provide opportunities for CHW certification and accredited continuing education in both English and Spanish
We have partnered with UT Health Science San Antonio to empower our communities with the tools for healthy relationships and healthier choices through curriculums like Draw the Line and Love Notes.
We have partnered with Dr. Sara Masoud, PhD, MPH to empower Latino communities to participate in dementia care research by building capacity for patient-centered outcomes research through collaboration with trusted community partners and culturally relevant activities.
Salud En Mis Manos
We have partnered with UT Health Houston to bring awareness to the Breast Cancer, Cervical Cancer and HPV Prevention to Women in the Rio Grande Valley.
